SUMMERSIDE -- The Summerside Western Capitals are back atop the Maritime Junior 'A' Hockey League's overall standings by the slimmest of margins.
The Capitals beat the Pictou County Weeks Crushers 5-1 Sunday night to improve to 35-12-0-1 (won-lost-overtime losses-shootout losses), good enough for 71 points. The Miramichi Timberwolves (33-11-1-3) and Maurice Bent Division-leading Truro Bearcats (32-11-1-5) both have 70 points and the Woodstock Slammers (31-13-1-5) are fourth overall with 68 points.

    Dorsey strong
Before 979 fans at Credit Union Place, recent acquisition Paul Dorsey continued his strong play in goal. Dorsey stopped 30 of 31 shots, including 12 in the first period when the Crushers outshot the Caps 13-6, to improve to 3-0. He has not allowed more than two goals in eight periods over three games and has stopped 76 of 80 shots.
Chad Locke (1-2), Jason Gallant, Steven Brazil, Brett Gallant and Nathan DesRoches scored for the Capitals. Spencer Corcoran (2), Trevor Carmichael (2), Mike MacIsaac and Harrison McIver added assists.
Geoff Hum had the lone goal for the Crushers (24-20-1-5).
The Capitals fired 35 shots at Crushers goaltender Alex Newman.
The first period ended in a 1-1 tie and the Caps led 3-1 after 40 minutes.
Referee Wayne Doyle called 14 minors, one 10-minute misconduct, two fighting majors and three checking-from-behind game misconducts against the Capitals. The Crushers were called for 10 minors, one high-sticking double minor, two fighting majors, one checking-from-behind major and game misconduct.
The Crushers went 0-for-10 on the power play and the Caps had a 1-for-6 summary.
    The three stars were:
    1. Paul Dorsey (Caps), 2. Chad Locke (Caps), 3. Parker Deighan (Caps).
